Reminiscing...

Whatcha waiting for??

It's always amazing to see fashion designers take on costume gigs. The latest being Rodarte for the movie 'Black Swan'.

My favourite is from Gwen Stefani's 2004 music clip for 'What are you waiting for?'
Showcasing couture designs from Dior's collection from the same year.

New Beginnings...

It's been a while since touching this blog... The last time I was here was anxiously awaiting critique for my final collection from my schooling.
As much as I didn't require or desired positive re-enforcement from the faculty, the reaction was favourable. My direction was understood and praise was given.
The Graduation Parade and my actual Graduation ceremony was really the icing on the cake...
Those shivers you get down your spine lingers and I was honestly on the verge of tears.
All those emotions that ran through my veins for the last 3 years bubbled to the surface and was released.

2011 was always promised to be a new beginning, open to the many possibilities that may come my way. But Jan/Feb was the long overdue, well deserved holiday that I had been waiting for.
Nearly a month in the west coast of the United States.
A overseas family holiday that has not been taken in over 17 years.
Stops included Vegas, Anaheim (Disneyland), Los Angeles, Hawai'i and San Francisco.
I could go on forever about the sites we've seen and the things we did, but I always had that design/retail business mindset whilst being over there.
Observing the winter trends, watching the visual merchandising of the boutique and department windows changing and most importantly the PRICES of clothing garments.
Let's just say, my Australian dollar is going overseas more often!
I finally understand why retail has been declining readily. Although, in saying this, we as a country are very lucky, retail clerks in the US only get paid $7 an hour and/or only commission!
Hence the cheap prices, which to them, is not cheap!

But alas, had to come back to reality and with a refreshed attitude, its time to knuckle down and start this CAREER!
I've started up my business and so far have taken on two clients within a month and as well as the 'full time job' hunt.
Which, I can say, I'm not too bored thankfully!
